The journal Linguistics & Polyglot Studies announces a call for papers for its 2025 special issue focusing on multilingualism from individual, social and historical perspectives. Particularly featured are the following topics:

• linguistic, social, and psychological aspects of polyglottery
• rare languages and writing systems
• languages in world history
• local vs. international languages in current use
• language policy and geolinguistic trends across the world

Papers can be written in any of the 10 languages of the journal: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.

The deadline for submission is June 1, 2025.

8 апреля 2024 года в рамках II Международной конференции «Язык, сознание, коммуникация: методология и гуманитарные практики (вызовы современности)» https://language.confreg.org/ состоялся круглый стол по вопросам полиглотии (сознательно достигнутого индивидуального многоязычия). Заседание проходило в онлайн-формате на английском языке.

В круглом столе приняли участие ответственный секретарь журнала «Филологические науки в МГИМО» (Linguistics & Polyglot Studies) https://philnauki.mgimo.ru/jour, доцент кафедры английского языка №3 Г.А.Казаков и сотрудничающие с журналом авторы: г.н.с. Института языкознания РАН, профессор МГЛУ Д.Б.Никуличева, аспирант МГУ им. М.В.Ломоносова, полиглот Я.В.Алешкевич-Суслов и преподаватель языкового лицея, автор первой в мире докторской диссертации по теме полиглотии К.Пеллегрини (Италия).

17 октября 2023 г. заслуженный профессор Университета Дайто-Бунка (Токио, Япония), председатель Американского общества геолингвистики, член редколлегии журнала «Филологические науки в МГИМО» (Linguistics & Polyglot Studies) Хикару Китабаяси прочитал для студентов и преподавателей факультета международной журналистики МГИМО открытую лекцию на тему «Connections between the British Isles and Old Rus in the 11th century».

Выступление было посвящено взаимосвязям Англии, Шотландии, Древней Руси и других средневековых европейских государств на примере конкретных исторических личностей, живших в XI веке (в частности потомков Ярослава Мудрого). Учёный отметил, что в западной литературе по истории России нет работ, свободных от политической предвзятости, и подчеркнул, что изучение генеалогии позволяет увидеть исторический процесс в более личной перспективе.
